Showing TikTok clips in slides and meetings properly

To use TikTok clips in a presentation properly, use your own videos or link to public posts instead of copying others' files, credit the creator on the slide, insert your own clips as local files, keep each clip short, and test sound and playback on the real meeting setup.

Decide whose clip it is

If the video is yours, use your original master file and insert it directly into the slide. That plays most reliably, even without internet.

If it belongs to someone else, link to the public post or play it from the app during a screen share, and credit the creator by name and handle. For anything beyond an internal discussion, such as a paid talk or public webinar, ask for permission first.

Insert the clip so it plays smoothly

Most presentation apps let you insert a video file and set it to play on click. Trim it inside the app or beforehand so only the relevant seconds play.

For links, place the URL or a QR code on the slide with a thumbnail you made yourself, so the slide still makes sense if the internet fails.

Fit vertical video on a wide slide

Vertical clips leave empty space on a widescreen slide. Use that space for the point you are making, the creator credit, or a simple coloured background.

Avoid stretching the video to fill the slide; it distorts faces and text.

Test before the meeting

Run the slide on the same laptop and video-call app you will use, with screen-share sound turned on if the call app has that option. Many failed demos are simply muted audio.

Keep clips short and say what to watch for before pressing play. Afterwards, pause and connect the clip to your point.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use any public TikTok in a work presentation?

Linking to or briefly showing public posts with credit is common, but rules differ by country and context. For commercial use or recordings, ask the creator and check with your legal team.

Why does my clip have no sound on the video call?

Most call apps share screen audio only when you tick an option such as 'share sound'. Check that setting and test it before the meeting.
